about

Ah, such a cliché! To celebrate the 20 years of 'Shiryu Music' I release a 6 disc 'best of' selection of tracks made between 1999 and 2007. So why this time period?

It just happened to be the time period I moved out of Amiga and PC sound trackers onto primarily the loop based eJay line of software products along with 'Music' and 'Fluid' on Playstation and my first steps into the world of 'Fruity Loops'. These tracks represent a journey into my mind on that time period, a time of friends aplenty, a time when everyone joined up o mIRC to set up online games of 'Quake', 'Half-Life' and 'Unreal Tournament and a time when everyone could quick and easily make music together simply by sending files back and forth.

I guess we were all dreamers and thankfully looking back most of us made it out into full adulthood intact. I produced this electronic journey in their memory. It is true everyone more or less has gone their own ways with professional careers, marriage and even children but the time we spend together were most certainly the very best of my life and times I will always cherish.

So if you are one of those people reading this, thank you and enjoy the memories. If you are a dreamer like me and people keep telling you that you can't do something yet you prove them wrong, this album is for you too! I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane because for me it was quite a struggle to pick just one or two tracks from each album. I assume I won't be having an easier time with 'Volume II'... but one album release at a time.
