supernintendosp This amazing rekindling of a soundtrack really makes me want to buy an SD2SNES. Why is this so? I would have a blast playing this game through once more using the synthesizer versions of the tracks. I would have used the Vox versions, but those are in short supply.

This album goes to prove Shiryu can do anything he wishes, as he pours his heart and soul into his work. Dare I say, divine! Favorite track: Sky Palace (Vox Faith).

about

Yuzo Koshiro turned 50 years old on December 2017. I was unable to attend to his live performance in London along with Motohiro Kawashima where both brought the house down with their combined "Streets of Rage" set but for my very first music release of 2018 I went with something quite on the opposite end of the spectrum: His classic compositions for the original 1990 Quintet video game "ActRaiser" for Super Nintendo.

This overdue tribute covers the entire soundtrack in three different styles (along with a bonus 4th disc) which is something I often wondered how it would turn up. "ActRaiser: Rebirth of the People" (a pun on one of the game's most iconic songs) explores Koshiro's compositions in chiptune style (Disc 1: Chiptune Faith), orchestral style (Disc 2: Orchestral Faith) which replaces the original samples with proper instrumental generated samples, synthesizer style (Disc 3: Synthesizer Faith) replacing the instruments with some of Vangelis timeless Yamaha CS-80 patches. Disc 4 "Vox Faith" is a bit of a bonus experience I threw together because I wanted to hear the "Sky Palace" singed by a vocal choir.

This is also the first time I release a LP and at the same time 3 different sound MSU-1 sound pack for the game itself. Assuming you have the know how to use it, by taking full advantage of DarkShock's audio enhancement patch you can play the game to the very same tracks that make up this latest release. To be able to play the original game in its original format to the music that you make is a rather unique experience and one I hope to be able to repeat in the future.

Hope you enjoy this release and I hope I have made justice to the source material. It is a real shame we haven't seen a new "ActRaiser" game in the past decades but perhaps that just help to make the two entries in the series even more special. Thank you all for your continued support.
