about

On June 23, 1996 the Nintendo 64 was released in Japan and things were never quite the same, with "Super Mario 64" effectively creating the template for what a 3D platformer should be, with the analogue stick itself a revolution on game control and "Star Fox 64" bringing force feedback for the first time to our homes. Despite all those impressive features, the console is remembered by the industry along with the GameCube and the Wii U as a failure. But I am not the industry, I am a gamer and as such not only was I able to own a Playstation but also a Nintendo 64, bought at the time of "F-Zero X" arrival in stores (something that was a personal tradition, buying Nintendo consoles when a "F-Zero" game showed up). Yes, cartridges were more expensive than CDs and had less ROM to play with, but did that matter when playing "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time"? Not to me. And thanks to the built in support for 4 players I still have terrific memories of "GoldenEye", "Mario Kart 64" and "WCW/nWo Revenge" sessions with my friends. Despite the graphical aspect of most Nintendo 64 games not having aged gracefully, something that made the console always stand out to me was the amazing soundtracks from its games. I wish to celebrate both them and the console with this tribute album.

To celebrate the Nintendo 64's 20th birthday, I have taken music from 20 of my favourite video game memories of those years
and turned them into chiptune remixes / covers. Hope you enjoy and that this brings you some great memories! Also make sure to check out "PSXX" and "SSXX" released two years ago, being that this third album completes the series.
