about

Frank Herbert's "DUNE" turned 54 years old on August 1, 2019. A phenomenal work, it is amazing and scary how relevant most of their subject topics remain current. 2008 seems like yesterday, where I took my first steps in MAGIX Music Maker. During the three weeks of Summer vacation I spent a good chunk of them in front of my laptop learnings all the quirks of the software and produced two albums back-to-back: "The WipEout Generation" and "Return ][ Arrakis".

If you're reading this text file you might have already concluded that "Spice Reveries" is a celebration of the later, with a rework and extension of two of the tracks found on that album, respectively "Dreamer Must Awaken" and "Spice" as you never heard them before. Quite a few people asked me from time to time if I was ever "going back to Arrakis", so I decided that the year of celebrating 20 years of Shiryu Music was a good excuse to do exactly that. Disc 1 is the project itself, disc 2 offers the instrumental only, vox free versions of the tracks and disc 3 is a companion bonus EP with the original tracks and bonus remixes.

"DUNE" is often overlooked in pop culture, but I have a feeling that much like "TRON Legacy" brought back "TRON" to our day and age so will Denis Villeneuve 2020's adaptation of this cult classic to cinema. He did amazing work with "Blade Runner 2049" so I have very few reservations that a new masterpiece is on the way, and along with it an epic soundtrack by Hans Zimmer and new video games!

I would like to dedicate this album to all the "Sleepers" out there, each and everyone of you who out there who are good people but spend your days wondering how it was possible to let the Planet get to this mess and have no clue how to solve these trouble ridden times. Do not be afraid, there are still far more good than evil in this world, but good news aren't worth reporting. The world is not what you see on the TV or read about in social media, the world is what you do every single day to every single people around you. If you can, help people. If there is something wrong that you don't agree, speak out in a peaceful and orderly fashion. You are not alone, and if all the "Sleepers" one day raise their voice in unison, no army on Earth or lobby can stop us all. We do not need to live in fear, but those who are prisoners of the selfish old ways will not have a future in modern society. Their time has come and gone, yet most still live in the illusion that traditional power will save them from the struggles to come. It won't. But as for the rest of us "Sleepers"... one day at a time, one struggle at a time.

Hope you enjoy the new sounds and again allow me to thank you all for your support. See you next release! ^_^
