Gerrit When I think of Blade Runner I think of Vangelis' iconic soundtrack and find it hard to imagine any other music. But this album absolutely works, as soundtrack, audio-play, or just music standing on its own. It's brilliant. I love the music, and all the little details, even down to each track's own little cover image. You can really hear and see it was made with love :) Highly recommended! Favorite track: Enhance.

about

It is still hard for me comprehend that we are one month away from 2020. Looking back at the last two decades releasing music I can help but to wonder if there will be anyone out there to listen to it when I am gone. If you are reading this, you have in your possession my definitive "Blade Runner" musical tribute album, the sum of two years of on and off work ever since I realized that November 2019 was right around the corner and that would be the perfect time (as any fan of Ridley Scott's 1982 movie cyberpunk masterpiece will quickly point out) to release this massive album.

It started with the simplest of concepts, by taking my 2009 track "Deckard" (an original tribute track made for my "Requiem For Earth" LP released in the same year) and expand it to cover the entire movie plot. Sure enough one disc turned into two and after I was done with that, I realized having just the instrumental tracks almost sounded like a whole new 80 bpm cyberpunk, dystopic electronic ambient album. So I settled for this four disc behemoth that I truly hope you enjoy even if you are not a fan or know about the source material.

I was way too young to fully understand what I saw the first time I watched the movie, but the scenario and Vangelis soundtrack were an absolute huge influence in my formative years so this album (like all my tribute albums, really) is my way to say thanks and give something back to the people who made my younger years memorable ones.I would like to dedicate this album to everyone in the crew of "Blade Runner", who made magic possible in a time where CGI was just taking the first steps and especially to shoe who passed away before making it to movie's "future" of November 2019. Rest in peace Brion James and Rutger Hauer, both actors truly more Human than Human.

Where I go from here is something I have yet to decide. If this album goes like all my previous works, it will be heard by a few dozen people before it is engulfed and lost like so many other works to the "noise" of the monster we call the Internet. SO if you do happen to be one of those few people, I thank you. I hope no one ever finds out the amount of hours, social life ruining, mental health draining effort that I needed to put this whole thing together by myself. In fact, I should probably take the Voight-Kampff machine on myself because this whole thing looks nigh impossible for a mere Human to pull off...

Thank you for your continued support. See you next release, or... time to retire? Or perhaps I will see you in 2049... v ^_^
